Paul Karraker
Members of the Coles County Barbershop Chorus gathered Friday, December 23, 2011 at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, Illinois to honor longtime chorus member Paul Karraker.
Paul, who joined the Coles County Chorus in 1994, passed away early Tuesday morning at the age of 73.
Paul was a valued member of the chorus and of the Shelbyville community, where he lived with his wife Sarah and their family since 1961.
Rev. Lee Lovett of Shelbyville First United Methodist Church presided over the funeral. Paul was a member of First United Methodist, the Questor Sunday School class, and — of course — he enjoyed singing in the choir.
Fittingly, the service concluded with performance on piano of “Gesu Bambino”, the closing song of this year’s CCC Christmas benefit concerts — the very last song Paul performed with the Coles County Barbershop Chorus.
